The founder of Jurat, a layer-1 blockchain, has defended the use of on-chain legal enforcement as a necessary trade-off for mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies. Recently, a US District Court used Jurat's on-chain enforcement tool to lock several individuals out of their crypto accounts for money laundering and ransomware activities.
This was the first time a court used on-chain enforcement, according to Jurat's CEO. While the technology may face criticism from decentralization supporters, it could provide necessary due process protections for digital assets and help prevent losses from scams and hacks.
