Charles-Henri Filippi is a French national, born in 1952. Charles has been Chairman of the Board of Directors at Citigroup France since 1 January 2011.

Charles joined French bank CCF (Crédit commercial de France) in 1987 following several years in the French civil service and government departments. Charles became Chief Executive Officer of CCF France in 1998 and was then appointed to the senior management of HSBC in 2001. At that time, Charles was entrusted with overseeing the Group’s Corporate and Institutional Banking business.

In March 2004 Charles was named as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of HSBC France. Charles then served as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors from August 2007 to 31 December 2008.

Charles was also a Senior Advisor at CVC Capital Partners France until 31 December 2010 and a Partner at Weinberg Capital Partners until 31 December 2011.

Charles is the Founder of asset management companies Octagones and Alfina, serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors at both companies between 2008 and 2012.
