Denis Bugrov was born on October 16, 1974, in Moscow.

In 1995 Denis Bugrov graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and in 1997 – from Moscow State Institute for International Relations. He also attended courses at the INSEAD international business school.

In 1991–1992 he worked as an expert of the science division of MGIMO School of Business and International Proficiency.

From 1995 to 2008 he worked for the consulting firm McKinsey & Company and rose from the position of business analyst, consultant, project manager, junior partner to full partner of the Moscow Office.

In January 2008 he became Senior Vice-President and member of the Executive Board of Sberbank. He was awarded the Order for Distinguished Service of Grade II.
