Eric Hsia is interested in companies at the intersection of health and information technology, finance and technology, and consumer services. He supports TransLink’s portfolio companies to engage customers and partners in Asia and leads the firm’s investment activities in Israel. Active current lead investments include aktiia, Opsys Technologies, Sensifree, and Somnoware as well as active engagement with HZO. Noteworthy past TransLink investments include Misfit (ACQ: Fossil). Eric is a founder of Eternal Capital and a private investor, board member, and advisor to public and private technology companies. He was previously the Founding Managing Director of the SOFTBANK Asia Infrastructure Fund (SAIF). Together with Gary Rieschel, Eric defined the strategy, recruited the team, and led investments for SAIF I, a $404 million venture capital fund launched by SOFTBANK Corporation in partnership with Cisco Systems in 2000. Eric has led investments in technology, media, and telecommunications companies in China, India, Korea, and the United States. Prior to SAIF, Eric was an associate partner with SOFTBANK Venture Capital focused on seed and early-stage communications services, e-commerce, and e-finance investments. Prior to joining SOFTBANK Venture Capital, he was a member of Merrill Lynch’s Technology Investment Banking Group and a consultant with The LEK/Alcar Consulting Group in Boston. Eric earned a B.A. in Economics from Harvard College and is a certified acupuncturist.
