Recognized as a successful leader in the financial services industry, Gary Crittenden has served as a financial manager for a number of international companies. After graduating from Harvard Business School in 1979, he began his career in Boston at the international consulting firm Bain & Company. Gary Crittenden later co-founded Bain’s office in Munich, where he became a partner, and where he worked for five years before eventually leading Bain’s retail practice area.

Gary Crittenden has also held the title of CFO in a series of increasingly larger companies, starting at Filene’s Basement, Sears Roebuck & Co., Monsanto, and for seven years at American Express. In 2007, he became the CFO of Citigroup. He guided the firm through the financial crisis, helped reduce its assets by more than $600 billion, and decreased its employee count by more than 75,000.

In 2009, Mr. Crittenden became a managing partner of HGGC, LLC, eventually becoming chief executive officer of HGGC in 2012. He is on the firm’s executive and policy and investment committees. Additionally, Mr. Crittenden serves as chairman of the board for iQor and Citadel, two of HGGC’s portfolio companies, and he was chairman of the board of Power Holdings, a former HGGC portfolio company.

Gary Crittenden earned an undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University, and Weber State University in Utah recognized his business achievements and service by awarding him an honorary doctorate. Active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mr. Crittenden and his wife are the parents of three children.
