H. James Dallas is a Senior Vice President at Medtronic. On May 1, 2013, James announced that he will retire effective September 2, 2013. Since that announcement, he has worked to transition his responsibilities for Quality and Operations to other leaders in the organization. Currently, James is supporting Chairman and CEO Omar Ishrak on a number of projects to support the Company’s growth initiatives. Prior to May 1, James was Senior Vice President, Quality and Operations; a position he held since April 2008. James first joined Medtronic in April 2006 as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer.Previously, James was vice president and CIO at Georgia Pacific. During his 22-year career at Georgia Pacific, he held a series of progressively responsible IT positions at the business, group and corporate levels. In addition, James was promoted into a number of operating roles, including general manager of the transportation division and president of the lumber division.James has a bachelor’s of science degree in accounting from the University of South Carolina-Aiken and a master’s degree in business administration from Emory University. He serves as a board member at KeyCorp, the parent company of Cleveland, Ohio-based KeyBank, and is also a board member of the YMCA-Greater Saint Paul and Metropolitan Minneapolis.
