Dr. Jirau holds a B.S. in Cell & Molecular Biology from the University of Puerto Rico (UPR). In addition, he holds a Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry from the UPR School of Medicine, focusing on discovering novel inflammatory pathways in polygenic respiratory disorders. He has been nominated and received numerous awards and received recognition from federal institutions, holding a fellowship grant from the National Institute of Health (NIH) for four consecutive years. In addition, Dr. Jirau holds a Master of Science in financial engineering (MScFE) from WorldQuant University, established by Igor Tulchinsky (Founder of Worldquant LLC). The Capstone Project focused on portfolio risk optimization of worst-case risk during high-sigma events. Dr. Jirau previously worked as a principal at Jirau Capital Management, an advisory firm offering business valuations, mergers & acquisitions consultancy, and separately managed accounts services for non-discretionary advisory clients. Afterward, he served as the investment fund manager of Parallel18, a renowned global accelerator, where he managed two venture capital portfolios with total assets under management (AUM) of $3M and structured an early-stage venture capital fund with a target $20M in AUM.
