Holly Kearl founded Stop Street Harassment first as a website and companion blog in 2008. Next she wrote the book Stop Street Harassment: Making Public Places Safe and Welcoming for Women (Praeger Publisher, 2010). Since then, she’s founded SSH as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, given more than 125 talks around the world about this issue and has received widespread media attention for her comprehensive work around ending street harassment.She works as a contractor for UN Women and the Aspen Institute and she is a facilitator with the OpEd Project. From 2007-2013 she worked as a program manager full-time for AAUW , a women’s equity nonprofit based in Washington, DC. She received a Master’s degree from George Washington University in Public Policy/Women’s Studies and degrees in History and Women’s Studies from Santa Clara University in CA.
