Tim is an educator, scholar, strategist, executive, mentor, and entrepreneur.

He holds the Cintas Chair in Entrepreneurship in the Farmer School of Business at Miami University. Previously, he held Jim Moran Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship at Florida State and served as executive director of The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship, where he presented the original proposal for a $100 million gift, the largest single contribution to Florida's public higher education system, to establish the nation's largest interdisciplinary entrepreneurship school--the Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship.

Tim has 30+ years of strategy consulting, management, and startup experience, including work in 25 countries. He's launched 8 startups and raised $30+M in angel, VC funding. He began his career at Accenture and spent 13 years in the Consumer Goods practice. He founded Telcom Global Solutions (TGS), a wireless network consulting services firms, and served as President/COO, building a $30M business before selling to Flextronics. He then ran Flextronics $800M network service division for two years.

His research appears in leading academic journals, earning awards from Academy of Management, Strategic Management Society, Kauffman Foundation, and Babson College. He serves on editorial boards for Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, and Journal of Management and on the research committee for AoM's ENT Division. Previously he served on the BPS Division executive committee.

Tim advises startups on strategy and VC/PE funding. He chairs advisory boards for ReliaQuest, a leader in co-managed cybersecurity services, and Oros Apparel, a tech-centric extreme outerwear company, and also mentors startups at The Brandery, OCEAN Accelerator, UpTech, and Cintrifuse.

He holds a doctorate in strategy/entrepreneurship from Texas A&M University and an MBA in management and BBA in accounting from University of Louisiana at Monroe.
