Brian Murray is President and Chief Executive Officer of HarperCollins Publishers. HarperCollins is one of the world’s largest English-language publishers of consumer books, and has publishing operations in the US, Canada, UK, Australia and India. More than 3,000 new titles are published each year, by 60 branded imprints across all major English language markets.Since being appointed CEO, in 2008, Murray has led the transformation of HarperCollins from a traditional print publishing company to a dynamic print and digital publishing company generating $200M in digital revenues. HarperCollins has developed new digital capabilities and implemented global print-on-demand machines to better serve our authors and booksellers around the world. Additionally, Murray has led five acquisitions over the last five years, the largest acquisition being Thomas Nelson. This resulted in the formation of HarperCollins Christian Publishing division, which positions HarperCollins as the leading publisher of Christian content in the world.Murray joined HarperCollins in 1997 and held several positions in the US General Books Group until 2001, when he was named Chief Executive Officer of HarperCollins Australia/New Zealand. In 2004, he returned to HarperCollins in the United States as Group President. Murray was promoted to President of HarperCollins Worldwide in July 2007; in this role he was responsible for the General Books Group in the United States, HarperCollins Canada, Australia, and China.Prior to joining HarperCollins, Murray was a consultant in the Media Practice at Booz & Co, a management consulting firm.
